In a single moment on October 1, 2013, God reclaimed the life of His child and faithful servant Bertha Mae (Walker) Brown. Bertha's life on this side of heaven began on May 2, 1950. Bertha dedicated her life to the Lord and was a very faithful, effective and diligent member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Lewisburg. She served as the president of the usher board, Church treasurer, and member of the Pastor's helpers and other committees. Bertha is the daughter of Forrest and Mary Walker, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Richard "Rabbit" Brown of Lewisburg. Together, they lovingly reared two children, Mary Catherine "Kathy" and Richard "Richie", Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and South Charleston, West Virginia, respectively. They are the grandparents of Alexa, Kahsi and Nicole. Bertha is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, Forrest Walker, Jr. (Mary) and Edward Walker (Pam) of Washington, D. C. and Beckley, West Virginia. She is also survived by her twin sister, Bessie Ward, of Detroit Michigan. Her younger sister, Maria (Walker) Williams, preceded her in death. Her passing is also mourned by her best friend, Elaine Weldon, of Lewisburg. Bertha's transition from earthly to heavenly angel will leave a void in the lives of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a plethora of relatives, co-workers, and friends far too numerous to list. Bertha always thanked God for her family, friends, and opportunities to serve in His name. The celebration of Bertha's life will be held at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church on Monday, October 7, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Ronald Sherrod officiating. The family will welcome visitors at the Church from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6. Bertha will be interred at Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.Service:2:00 PM MondayOctober 7, 2013Mt. Tabor Baptist ChurchLewisburg, WVVisitation:6 to 8 PM SundayOctober 6, 2013Mt. Tabor Baptist Church
