William B. (Bill) Robinson Obituary Bill Robinson died January 7, 2018, in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He was 89 years of age. Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on September 9, 1928, he was the third son of S. Paris and Julia Robinson, both deceased. The older brothers were Paul (later called Sam and now deceased) and Bob, now deceased. He also has a younger sister named Ann Baker. Bill grew up in Bluefield, West Virginia, but moved to Charleston just prior to his 14th birthday. He graduated from Lincoln Junior High School in 1943 and Stonewall Jackson High School in 1946. He had a Charleston Daily Mail paper route, worked at A&P Super Markets, Busy Bee Grocery, E.I. Dupont, and Union Carbide Corporation. During his 21 years at Carbide he was drafted into the U.S. Army on January 9, 1951, and saw action in Korea driving an ammunition truck taking ammo to the tanks of the 245th Tank Battalion of the 45th Division from December 1951 until December 1952. Upon returning to Carbide in January 1953, he worked nine months before taking advantage of the G.I. Bill of Rights and enrolling at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Halfway through Ohio University, Mr. Robinson married the former JoAnn Lynn of Charleston on June 10, 1955. He graduated from Ohio University in June 1957 with a BFA, majoring in Architecture. Carbide hired Mr. Robinson back in the Design and Construction Department. The Robinsons have five children: Max, Mark, Michael, Marshall, and Mary Kathryn, and have 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Robinson left Carbide in July 1969, to serve as field director with Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship in Hopewell, Virginia. After four years he left PEF to become the first Director of Development at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, and later became Vice-President for Deferred Giving. They were active members at First Presbyterian Church, PCA while in Jackson. He served the Lord at Reformed Seminary almost 25 years until his retirement December 31, 1998. The Robinsons built their retirement home at Ridge Haven Conference Center near Brevard, North Carolina. Mr. Robinson was a charter member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, PCA in Brevard and was elected as an Elder. After suffering a stroke on February 3, 2001, he asked to be Elder Emeritus. In June 2014, the Robinsons moved to Renick, West Virginia, to be near their sons. They have been active members of Fairlea A.R.P. Church in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Mr. Robinson died at Peyton Hospice House after a brief illness. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Fairlea A.R.P. Church with Rev. Ike Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery, Renick, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Saturday at the church.
