Billy W. Brooks Sr., 66, of Lewisburg passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at The Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea. Born February 16, 1948 in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Marshall Kessler and Garnett Hoylman Brooks and in addition to his parents was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Brooks, Katherine Dawson, Anna Mae Jones, Charlotte Boye, Louise Stine, Charles Brooks, Ray Brooks, Jackie Brooks, Willard Brooks, Andrew Brooks and Linda Sullivan. Billy was employed by Acme Limestone for 34 years and after its closing he worked at the Greenbrier County Landfill. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Jo Quick Brooks; children, Tammy Dunbar and husband David, Billy Brooks Jr. and wife Brenda, and Jennifer Sampson and Jon Sheets; eight grandchildren, Gregory Sampson and wife Audrey, Kristin Dunbar and Damon Fugate, Courtney Brooks, Kayla Dunbar and Donnie Rothgeb Jr., Tiffany Sampson, Miranda Brooks, Kelsey Dunbar and Chevelle Brooks; great grandchildren, Eric Felts Jr., Bailey Fugate, Conner Rothgeb, Jaidynn Miller, Mason Miller and Lane Sampson due to arrive later this month; brothers, James Brooks and wife Marie, and Kenneth Brooks and wife Joy; sisters, Margie Fury and husband Joe, Faye Brown and husband Andrew, and Helen Napier; a special niece that was like a sister, Carol Fogle and sisters-in-laws, Myrtle Burns, Wilma Bowes and husband Alan, and Nancy Quick. Service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with Pastor Gary Dean officiating. A private burial will follow at the Roach cemetery on Muddy Creek Mountain. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to The Greenbrier Manor staff for all their love and care during this time.
