Billy R. Cook, 82, of Clintonville formerly of Cyclone, WV died Saturday December 3, 2011 at Charleston Memorial Hospital. Born in Cyclone, WV in 1929 to Anthony" Aintny" and Susie P. Cook, Bill began working at age 15 driving a truck to haul supplies from Eastern Kentucky back to Wyoming County. At age 18 he began working in the mines and became a member of the UMWA and remained so until his death. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and his farm in Greenbrier County. He worked the farm and drove his prized tractor until the day before his death, just as he wanted to do. Papaw Bill will be greatly missed by family and friends including his wife Amanda "Crick" Cook of Clintonville, WV; his children Tony and his wife Tammy also of Clintonville, and Roger of Cyclone, WV; His grandchildren John and Laura of Clintonville and Mitch and Miranda of Cyclone; his sister Easter Lusk of Oceana, WV; his brother Russell Cook of Davin, WV as well as a host of family and friends. Bill will be remembered as a hard working man who could make or fix anything. He cared immensely for his family and friends and the farm he loved so much. He loved his grandchildren, family and friends and they were the lights of his life. He was father, mentor, counselor and friend to all who knew him. Bill was a veteran of the US Army and the US Navy. He raced stock cars in Logan County in his youth. He was Plant Manager for Allied Manufacturing in Chicago, IL where he invented and manufactured a cup machine for the manufacture of u-joints.
