Charles "Sonny" Bransford

Charles "Sonny" Bransford, 82, of Williamsburg passed away Wednesday December 9, 2015 at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea. Born June 4, 1933 at Williamsburg, he was the son of the late Ira "Doc" Bransford and Elizabeth Simmons Bransford. Sonny was a founder and charter member of the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the T.A.H.O.E Farm Club, a part of the J.O.Y Group at Henning Church of God, and exhibited antique farm and household tools at numerous local fairs and festivals which he greatly enjoyed doing. And, he was a United Stated Army Veteran having served during Korea. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Gallion; and infant twin sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Cox Bransford; daughters, Glenda Hardy of Frederick, MD and Rachel DePriest and husband, Sandy of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren, Charles DePriest II (Amanda), Teer Hardy (Allison), Catherine Johnston (Michael), Kayla Durstine (Jeremy), Laura Stackpole (Lynn) , Drew Hardy, and Lucy Hardy; seven great grandchildren, Charles DePriest III, Ashleigh Johnston, Shane Johnston, Jayden Durstine, Bryson Durstine, John Robert DePriest, and Camden Hardy; sister, Marianna Westerman of Lewisburg; and brother-in-law, Gerald Gallion of Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00AM Saturday December12, 2015 at End of the Trail Cemetery at Clintonville with Rev. Roger Williams officiating. A visitation will be held 6:00PM-8:00PM on Friday December 11 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with a singing of hymns from 7:30PM-8:00PM.
