Charles "Walter" King passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, after a long illness. His friends are grateful to HopsiceCare, Lewisburg, WV, for the excellent care and support Walter received during that time. Walter was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School and attended Concord College, Bluefield State College and Fairmont State College, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. Fascinated by computers, Walter kept himself abreast of the newest technologies. He managed an internet service provider in Greenbrier County for years. A talented guitarist and vocalist, Walter was a member of numerous bands during his teens and twenties. More recently he acted as sound technician for local bands and for various venues. He helped many young musicians at open mic nights. Many will remember Walter sitting in the Wild Bean, drinking coffee and talking about music (especially The Beatles), his dog, (Sargent Pepper) and current events. He was also known for his wry sense of humor. Walter was preceded in death by his grandparents Walter and Birdie Ervine and his mother Mildred Ervine King. He leaves a sister, Rhinda King Johnson and brother-in-law, Larry Johnson of South Point, Ohio. In honor of Walter's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services.
