Charles William Stokes, 91, of Hinton passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Summers County Hospital. Born September 11, 1924 at Thomas, WV, he was the son of the late Floyd and Bertha Andrews Stokes and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candace Bennett, brothers, Richard and Marvin Stokes and a sister, Louise Kite. Mr. Stokes was a US Navy veteran of World War II, a retired conductor for the CSX Railroad and a member of Hinton Masonic Lodge #62, AF&AM. He is survived by his wife, Ann Stokes; three daughters, Debbie Marra(Frank) of Beckley, Kristi Baldwin(Junior) of Renick and Kathi Bennett(Kim) of Hinton; one son, Steve Stokes of Flat Top; a sister, Marjorie Ward of North Carolina and three nephews, Charles Ward and David and Richard Stokes. Services will be 12:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Central Baptist Church in Hinton with Rev. Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
