Dean D. Johnson

October 7, 1941 — February 6, 2020

FAIRLEA, WV – Dean D. Johnson, 78, of Fairlea, WV passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Peyton Hospice House.  Born October 7, 1941 in Tacoma, WA he was the son of the late Maxine Peterson.  Dean was retired from the US Army after twenty years of service with the rank of Sergeant First Class.  He served in the Vietnam War.  He also retired from the Greenbrier Center in 1994.  Dean was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Lewisburg, a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.  In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Johnson.  Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Victoria Johnson, sons, Dennis Johnson (Nancy) of Union, WV and David Johnson (Shelley) of Covington, VA, daughter, Patricia Wiles of Fairlea, WV, brother, Jack  Johnson of Alaska and sister, Pat Griego (Jim) of Greeley, CO, grandchildren, Tata Merrill (Andrew), Taylor and Abby Johnson, great grandchildren, Evalet, Amelia and Dean Merrill, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel – 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Jonathan Comer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Morningside Cemetery, Renick, WV.  Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the funeral home.  Online guestbook can be signed at www.morganfh.net .  Arrangements by Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV.
