Dennis Bittinger Sr, 65, of Frankford went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 after a short but valiant fight with cancer. Born in Alderson on August 13, 1947, he was the son of the late James and Josephine Bittinger. Dennis retired from the Greenbrier hotel after thirty-six years of service. After learning he had cancer, Dennis turned to the Lord for his strength and guidance. His faith never wavered and he would often tell people how important prayer and God is in everyone's life. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Bittinger; three brothers, Steven, Marshall, and Jimmy Bittinger; his brother-in-law, Orville Wickline Sr.; and his mother-in-law, Sally Holliday. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Mary Holliday Bittinger; two sons, Dennis Jr. "D.J." of Frankford and Adam of Renick; two sisters, Mary Wickline of White Sulphur Springs and Esther Grimmett Bittinger of Lewisburg; one brother-in-law, Bill Grimmett of Frankford, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday October 5, 2012 at the Enon Baptist Church on Vago Road-Frankford with Rev. Steve Barnette officiating. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Per Dennis's request he will be cremated.
