Earl Harvey Hanson

Ballard, WV – Earl Harvey Hanson, 98 of Ballard, WV formerly of Cornstalk, WV passed away, Sunday, February 16, 2020 at his home.  Born January 11, 1922 at Williamsburg, WV he was the son of the late Tim and Dora Suttle Hanson.  He was a member of the James Chapel United Methodist Church and was a Farmer. Earl was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Dancy Hanson, two sisters, Ruth McClung and Drema Worrell, two brothers, Carl Hanson and Dale Hanson and a great-granddaughter, Shana Renee Cumbee.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Mullins (Doug) of Bozoo, WV and Hazel Byrd (Rodney) of Buchanan, VA, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel – 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Roger Williams officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon, Sunday until time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the HospiceCare – 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
