Earl C. Sampson

Earl C. Sampson, 92, of Lewisburg passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 in the VA Medical Center at Beckley. Born January 19, 1920 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late James and Virginia Harvey Sampson and in addition to his parents was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Quick Sampson; brothers, Delbert and Bill Sampson and sisters, Dottie Wolfe and Alice Jones. Mr. Sampson was a Building Contractor, a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church and a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was also a member and past president of the Ruritan Club and a 63 year member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Sampson; his son, Earl Sampson Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Lewisburg; grandsons, Michael Sampson and wife, Kathryn of Lewisburg and Todd Sampson and wife, Kathy of Martinsburg, three great grandchildren, Stephen, Joseph and Chandler Sampson; brothers, James Sampson of Arkansas and Chester Sampson of Frankford; and sisters, Fern Bertier and Pat Meredith of Maryland, Carol Dean of Florida and Hettie Hancock of Virginia. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Lewisburg United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Kenaston officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery at Lewisburg. There will be no visitation.
