RONCEVERTE, WV – Elbert B. “E.B.” Hodges Jr., 91, of Ronceverte, WV passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at The Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Ronceverte, WV. A lifelong resident of Ronceverte, he was born April 13, 1926 to the late Elbert and Julia Lindsay Hodges. Preceding him in death were his siblings, Glen Hodges, John Hodges, Lois Sams, Wanda Hodges and Mabel Robinson. Also preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 68 years, Bucilla Belle Morgan Hodges, a daughter, Sharon Yvonne and granddaughter, Chastity Lowe. He is survived by his four children, Vicky Cooper (Pete) of Huntington, WV, Bill Hodges of Ronceverte, WV, Rick (Diana) of Milton, WV and Teresa Campbell (Dale) of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. E.B. was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy (1944-1946) serving aboard the USS Mink in the South Pacific. He retired from the Bendix Corporation with more than 25 years of service. A member of the Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department for over 70 years, he was recently awarded Lifetime Membership by his fellow firemen. He had served on the board of the Ronceverte Cable Corporation and was a founding member of Greenbrier County EMS. He took great pride in his garden every summer and enjoyed sharing the bounty of that garden with his many friends. As a talented woodworker, he left behind many items of his craftsmanship to be treasured forever. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Everette “Hat” Defibaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Ketron Cemetery, Rockland Road, Ronceverte, WV. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of the service, Thursday at the funeral home.
