Edith Hammons, 88, of Ronceverte passed away on Thursday August 27, 2015 at the Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea. Born September 2, 1926 in Greenbrier County she was the daughter of the late Joe and Biddie McMillion Blankenship. And in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clate Hammons; daughter, Phyllis Christian; and son, Harold Hammons; two grandsons, Scott Hammons and Little Jimmy Hammons; sisters, Ada Hammons, Merley Burks, Shirley Eagle, and Mildred Simmons; and brothers, Gilbert, Howard, and Guy Blankenship. Edith was a very loving and patient mother who greatly loved her family and was a hard worker. Mrs. Hammons is survived by her children, Melvin Hammons and wife, Sue of Lake Station, Ind., Jimmie Hammons and wife, Judy of Organ Cave, Roger Hammons and wife, Lillian of Frankford, and Dreama Dube and husband, Michael of Floyd, VA; three sisters, Pearl McCoy of Frankford, Nellie Bragg and Judy Simmons of Lewisburg; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
