Edsel Carl "Sonny" Brown

Edsel Carl "Sonny" Brown of Frankford, WV passed away following a brief illness at the Beckley Veteran's Hospital, Sunday morning November 11, 2012. Born August 23, 1931 at Renick, he was the son o the late Austin M. Brown and Dorothy A. Brown. He proudly served in the Korean War with 4 years of service in the U.S. Army and 3 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Purple Heart recipient. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Ricky Carl Brown, two sons-in-law Darryl Horan and Bruce Branum, sister Geraldine Hightower and Minnie Lewis and two infant brothers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janis Kay Hanna Brown of Frankford, WV; daughters, Virginia Gale Alexander and husband, Perry of Alexandria, Va., Vickie Maun-Mininger and husband, Albert of Hampton, VA., Valerie Brown and Gene Franklin of Stafford, VA., Tina Horan of Deale, MD., April Rossi and husband Paul of Fredericksburg, VA and Cheryl Brown and Anthony "Tony" Barreiro of Alexandria, VA; eleven Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Austin "Junior" Brown (Mae), and Edward "Ike" Brown (Judy) and sisters, Velma Clevenger, Gladys Hefner (Jim), and Mary Altizer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 15 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Chaplain Mark Iobst officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
