Edwin Lee Bennett, 76, of White Sulphur Springs died August 1, 2014 at the Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home where he had been residing for almost 4 years. Edwin was born June 7, 1938 in Ronceverte, WV and was preceded in death by his parents Echols and Lilly Madge Bennett; sisters, Evidine Morgan and Mila Mitchell; an infant brother and a young brother, Albert. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hilda Foster Bennett; two sons, Edwin Randolph Bennett of White Sulphur Springs and Timothy Warren Bennett of Frankford; one daughter, Teresa Michelle Bennett of Ronceverte, three brothers, Buford Bennett and wife, Arlene of Hopewell, VA, Orlie Bennett and wife Deloris of Ronceverte and Manfred Bennett and wife Linda of Ronceverte; two sisters, Arminta Weikle of Fairlea and Diane Propps and husband, Glenn of Covington, VA; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1957 and was a member of Whatcoat Methodist Church. He retired from the Greenbrier Hotel in shipping and receiving department after 35 years of service. After retiring, he began his own business, "Bennett's Bandsaw Company for a short time before retiring due to poor health. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, bowling and woodworking. He was most proud of his contributions in woodworking during the building of Whatcoat Church. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Whatcoat Methodist Church on Route 92, White Sulphur Springs with Rev. Gerald Roberts and Rev. Betty McCarver officiating. Burial will follow in the Whatcoat Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday August 4 at Whatcoat Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Whatcoat Youth Program or the Resident's Activity Department at the Greenbrier Manor.
