Elizabeth Childers Masters of Frankford, West Virginia, passed away at the age of 73 on Sunday, August 5th at 8:05 AM as a result of complications following surgery. She will always be remembered for her loving warmth, kindness, grace and humility. Elizabeth was someone who always put others before herself, while being devoted to her family and friends and delighting everyone with her home cooking and special recipes. Her family and friends will miss her very much, but take great comfort in knowing that she is now in Heaven, free of pain or sorrow or hurt. May God welcome her into His arms and comfort all that she leaves behind. Born on December 3rd, 1938 in Maxwelton, West Virginia to Bernard and Louise Childers, Elizabeth was the second oldest of six siblings. She spent most of her childhood in Beckley, West Virginia, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956. She met her husband, Robert Masters and moved to Richmond, Virginia where she raised 4 children. Elizabeth worked at the Virginia Employment Commission for more than 20 years in a variety of capacities, most recently as an Administrative Law Judge, before moving to Frankford, West Virginia where she enjoyed her retirement with the company of family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Robert Masters of Frankford, West Virginia, daughter Rebecca Masters Browning of Chesterfield, Virginia, daughter Sharon Masters Simmons of Ronceverte, West Virginia, son Robert Andrew (Andy) Masters of Dinwiddie, Virginia and daughter Cathy Masters Humphries of Dinwiddie, Virginia. Elizabeth's nine grandchildren include Drew Masters of Sutherland, Virginia, 1st Lieutenant Stephen Simmons of Fort Riley, Kansas, Luke Smith of Alexandria, Virginia, Reba Simmons of Vero Beach, Florida, Kendall Smith of Glen Allen, Virginia, Jacob Fitzpatrick of Columbia, South Carolina, Aaron Humphries of Dinwiddie, Virginia, Ellie Browning of Chesterfield, Virginia and Mathew Humphries of Dinwiddie, Virginia. Surviving siblings include Jerry Childers of Princeton, West Virginia and Dr. R. Stephen Childers of Ona, West Virginia. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Louise Childers and brothers Bill Childers, Wayne Childers and Roger Childers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, August 8 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial will follow in the McLean Cemetery at Ronceverte.
