Frances Marie Cales

April 22, 1924 — April 27, 2018

WINCHESTER, VA - Frances Marie McClung Cales, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2018, at her home in Winchester, VA. Born on April 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Oather H. and Nina I. McClung of Rupert. Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a gifted seamstress, wonderful cook, homemaker and a friend to all. She loved everybody and never met a stranger. Even though she lost her vision several years ago to an eye disease, macular degeneration, that did not slow her zest for travel and visits to family and the beach. She truly was remarkable with the ability of hearing someone’s voice she knew and quickly able to call them by name without her vision.   She was a godly example of unconditional love. She didn’t just teach it, she lived it. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Eugene Cales; her daughter, Dottie Swogger King; three sisters, Florence, Frankie, and Dorothy; and two brothers, Junior and Dennis. Frances is survived by one daughter, Debbie and husband Lewis with whom she made her home; six grandchildren, Angie (Mike) Myers, Wes (Lynn) Swogger, Doug (Sheila) Swogger, Lewis (Lindsey) Wydner, A.J. (Rachel) Wydner, Gina (Chris) Jewell; fifteen great grandchildren, Richard and Rachel Myers, Melanie, Lynn, and Jake Swogger, Josh (Anna) Swogger, Joseph (Kimberlie) Swogger, Jonathan Wydner, Ysabella, Abigail, and Elijah Wydner, Maxwell Turner, Laylen Combs, Gavin and Edyn Jewell; four brothers, Don (Deanna), David (Terry), Delmas (June), and Larry (Janey) McClung; and two sisters, Naomi (Bill) Pittsenbarger and Martha McClung; and multiple nieces and nephews who all loved her. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel – 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV with Bro. Bill Pittsenbarger officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Tuesday at the funeral home. Online guestbook can be signed, or condolences may be sent to the family at www.morganfh.net. Arrangements by Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV.
