RENICK, WV - Frank Gerod Baker III of Annapolis, MD died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Renick, WV. Born December 6, 1943, Frank graduated from Annapolis High School, joined the US Army, and served as a paratrooper in VietNam from 1965-1966 in the 173rd Airborne Brigade, LRRP. He attended University of Maryland, earning a BA in History. He worked as a land surveyor for many years. As a young man, Frank loved motorcycles and traveling. He traveled the United States, South America, and Europe. He was an avid reader, a gifted writer, and enjoyed meeting people and listening to their stories. He loved animals and the serenity of nature. Throughout his life, he struggled with the debilitating effects of PTSD but is remembered for his resounding laugh and living life on his terms.Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Lucele "Tic" Graefe in 1986, his step-father, Ed Graefe in 2011, his father, Frank G. Baker Jr in 2012, and his step-mother, Rosalind "Jane" Baker in 2016, all of Annapolis, MD. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Baker, and his grandson, Wilson Vest, of Asheville, NC, his brother and wife, George and Linda Graefe, of Sherwood Forest, two step-sisters, Patty Sansbury and Sharon Lyons, both of Delaware, and his beloved dog, Sadie, who is in the care of close friends. In addition, he is held in the memory and hearts of many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as friends who remember him with love.It was Mr. Baker's wish to be cremated. There will be no services.
