Freda Forren Beard, 87, of Fort Spring passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Brier Nursing Home after a long illness. Born November 24, 1927 at Fort Spring, she was the youngest child of the late James Francis and Laura Ramsey Forren. Freda was a graduate of Greenbrier High School and was proud to be a "Bulldog". Following high school she completed the Huntington Beauty and Barber School. She was a retired hairdresser and care provider for the ill and elderly. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Fort Spring CEO's, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Ronceverte. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Julian Beard, infant son David, her brother, John Newman Forren and his wife Betty, and infant granddaughter Mary Ann Browning. Survivors include her daughters Linda Browning of Beckley, Paula Beard McCoy, and husband Tim, of Fort Spring; grandchildren Stephen Browning, and wife Kendra of Beckley, Valerie Lilly, and husband Brady of Coal City, Cietta McCoy and Ramsey McCoy of Fort Spring, and three great granddaughters, Jade, Lana, and Zoey Lilly. Funeral will be Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2 PM at Grace United Methodist Church in Fort Spring with her beloved pastor, Rev. Rick Duncan. Pallbearers will be Mike Baker, Ramsey McCoy, Tommy McCoy, Stephen Browning, Michael Blum, and John Fullen. Honorary pallbearer is Dorsey Wilson. Visitation will be at the church for two hours prior to the funeral. Burial to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
