Garlin Mckinney

RUPERT, WV – Garlin H. McKinney, “Moonpie”, 72, of Rupert, WV passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Greenbrier Manor, Lewisburg, WV following a long illness. Born October 18, 1944 at Ramp, WV he was the son of the late London and Lola Cales McKinney of Rupert, WV. Garlin mostly resided in Rupert where he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a U.S. Marine and served three tours in Vietnam where he received four purple hearts. He was a faithful WVU Mountaineer fan of football and basketball and normally predicted every game. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Bud, Jerry and Jimmy McKinney and a sister, Juanita Baldwin. Those left to cherish his memory are several nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great great nieces and nephews. Those closest to him was a great niece and caretaker, Stephanie Baldwin (Bobby Tobergte) of Clintonville, WV, great-great niece, Alexis Jones, great-great nephew, Chandler Jones both of Clintonville, WV, nephew, Junior “Punk” Baldwin (Kristi) of Renick, WV, nephew Steve Baldwin (Josie) of Muddy Creek Mountain and stepdaughter, Marie Russell of Rupert, WV. Friends and family are asked to join in a celebration of life at the residence of Stephanie Baldwin in Clintonville, WV at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 27, 2017 to celebrate the love and laughter that he gave to us all.
