Gregory Lee McGinnis

Greg McGinnis of Lewisburg, WV sadly passed away on Monday, May 18 in Charleston, WV, he was 59 years old. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Brian McGinnis of Hilton Head Island, SC and Brian’s wife, Tammy McGinnis. Greg was proceeded in death by his father, Bruce McGinnis, and his mother, Paula McGinnis also of Lewisburg, WV. Greg was a proud graduate of Paris High School in Paris, Texas. He also received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech. After college, for most of his adult life, Greg went into business as an executive recruiter for his father’s business, Prosearch of Greenbrier Valley. For the last years of his life, Greg found his passion, working as a historical archivist for the Greenbrier Resort, only retiring recently, due to illness. Guests of the resort would frequently talk to Greg for hours about the history of the resort. He had an amazing recall of historical events, and frequently researched long forgotten stories. Talking to people and socializing was his forte. He made many friends through his life from Texas to Hilton Head, SC, and finally to WV. He loved Virginia Tech football, and attended many games over the years with friends and family, forging life-long relationships over tailgating and touchdowns. His life on Earth was far too short, but he made a lasting impact in this world and will not be forgotten. We take solace in knowing that his pain and suffering are now over. We have spent the last few days remembering the good times we all spent with Greg. We have gained another angel. Rest in peace my brother.
