James Pershing Evans

James Pershing Evans, 72, of Sinking Creek passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at home. Born October 27, 1941 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late William McKinley Evans and Inez Rowe Evans and in addition to his parents was preceded in death by son, James Lee Evans and grandson, Carl Jacob Hinkle. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Irene Evans; his children, Cherry Creswell(Steve) of Bel Air, Maryland, Melody Hale(Larry) of Salem, VA, Bonnie Tincher(Elmer) of Caldwell, Theresa Reynolds of Caldwell, and Carr Evans of Lewisburg; daughter-in-law, Rose Evans of Frankford; grandchildren, Shannon Creswell, Carrie and Josh Hinkle, Evan R. and Sara Reynolds and Ally Evans; brother, Carr "Bill" Evans; sisters, Pat Evans, Valerie Conners and Bonnie Thomas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 12:30 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in Windy Knoll Cemetery at Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Tuesday, February 11 at Morgan Funeral Home .
