James Roger Holland, lovingly known as Jim, passed away peacefully at age 81 on August 24, 2026, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Born on November 13, 1944, in Green Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Jim lived a life marked by quiet strength, enduring values, and deep devotion to his beloved family.
Throughout his years, Jim was a steadfast and cherished presence among those who knew him best. His journey began in Green Sulphur Springs, where he was raised by his late parents, Paul and Margie Holland, and alongside his siblings. Jim’s family remained at the heart of his world from his earliest days until his final moments.
He was a proud graduate from WVU obtaining his Masters Degree in Ag Science. Jim was a former Greenbrier County Extension Agent.
Jim was a US Airforce Veteran. He operated his landscaping company, Sierra, with pride and detail. Jim had a great poker face, always planning his next move. He loved going to car shows, working on antique trucks and restoring old truck parts.
He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Linda Groves Holland, who stood by his side through the many joys and challenges that life brought their way. Together, they built a legacy of love and resilience, raising their children and fostering a household filled with warmth and kindness. Jim’s memory continues through his children: sons Devin Holland (Lisa) and William Holland (Keely), and daughter Kelli Holland Weikle. His bond with each of them was unwavering, and the lessons he imparted—of loyalty, perseverance, and compassion—will be remembered always.
Jim was also blessed with the companionship and support of his sisters: Judy Martin (James), Julia Mongar, and JoAnn Hughes. Their sibling connection endured across the years, forming an unbreakable bond rooted in shared experiences and mutual care. Though Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Conrad Holland, his spirit lives on in the stories and memories cherished by those who remain.
As a proud grandfather, Jim’s nurturing influence touched the lives of his grandchildren: Casey, Bailey, Kendra, Alexis, Shawn, Hannah, Samuel, and Lexi. Each carries forward a part of his gentle guidance and loving encouragement. The arrival of great-grandchildren—Owen, Isabella, McKinley, and Axel—brought new joy to Jim’s later years, and he delighted in watching the next generation grow.
