Jay Ronald Cales Sr., 78, of White Sulphur Springs passed away on February 13, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a short illness.Jay was born September 29, 1937 to the late Lottie Mae Ballengee Cales and Clyde Cecil Cales. Preceding him in death were a sister, Virginia Hanna and seven brothers, Eugene, Hershey, Kenneth, Richard, Roy, Jerry and Rodger Cales.Jay was a 50+ year member of Union Local 491 and Local 10. He was assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 51 in White Sulphur Springs for several years, worked with Little League Baseball and coached a womans softball team. He loved going four-wheeling with his friends, bluegrass music and camping at Sherwood Lake with his family. He especially loved his two cocker spaniels, Molly and Penny.Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Lenore McMillion Cales; two daughters, Nancy Lynn Tuckwiller(Kevin) of Lewisburg and Cathy Denise Blaylock(Billy) of Princeton; one son, Jay Ronald Cales, Jr.(Gina) of Hurricane; grandchildren, Matthew Flood, Luke and Sam Cales, Billy Blaylock, JR., Phillip and Mark Tuckwiller, Amber Tuckwiller, Jessica Tuckwiller and Kim Blaylock; great grandchildren, Jack Blaylock, Sophia Tuckwiller and Hamilton Van Bruen; sisters, two sisters, Clydene Vaughan(Frank) of Columbus MS and Fran Vaughan(Sam) of Rocky Mount, VA. Also a special young friend, Brent Boggs of Atlanta, GA.Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on March 12 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs. Services will be at 1:00 PM with Pastor Shari Dawn Stilgenbauer officiating.In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Greenbrier County Humane Society.
