Joseph Allen "Joe" Burns, 68 of Lewisburg passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 while cutting timber under the bright, fall sunshine on Coffman Hill. After retiring from the West Virginia Department of Highways, he spent years caddying on the Greenbrier greens, participating loyally at the local bingo and dance halls, and filling his days canning the world's best tomato juice. Joe frequently mowed others yards and cut them wood with a "thank you" as the only form of payment. Joe was a devoted father and husband, a selfless family member, friend, and neighbor. He was a man who truly never met a stranger. Preceding him in death were his wife, Peggy Burns; parents, James and Ola Cash; brother, Larry Cash; and sister, Betty Wease. Surviving are his sons, Jimmy Burns and Billy Burns; granddaughter, Jaycee Burns; brother, Jack Burns and wife, Marlene; sisters, Judy Moran, Laura Jean Bostic, and Nancy Marshall; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday November 21 at the First Baptist Church in Fairlea. Burial will follow in the Adwell Cemetery at Ronceverte. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM-8:00PM Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
