Joe Allen Wiley, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the age of 79 at the Lewisburg Healthcare Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia. Born on December 16, 1946, in Union, WV, Joe lived a full and meaningful life marked by warmth, positivity, and a spirit that touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A proud graduate of Union High School, Joe’s early career began as a barber, where his cheerful nature and gift for conversation immediately set him apart. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny ability to strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone, earning him a reputation as a truly good talker. Later, Joe transitioned into the automotive sales industry, retiring from Alleghany Motors where he served as a dedicated salesman. In his later years, he brought the same enthusiasm and work ethic to his role at Lewisburg Cash Register.
Joe’s passions extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid gardener, finding joy and peace in tending to his plants. He loved yardwork and hunting, activities that kept him connected with nature and filled many days with purpose and contentment. His cheerful presence and happy demeanor were constants in his community, making him a fixture whose absence will be profoundly felt.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Genevieve Lee Bennett Wiley, whose companionship was the cornerstone of his life. He raised three sons, Michael Todd Wiley, Andy Joe Wiley, and Chris Wiley and wife Windy. Joe’s family extended to his brother Charlie Wiley and his wife Teresa, and his sister Polly Plunkett, all of whom hold dear memories of Joe’s warmth and zest for life. His legacy continues in his grandson, Collin Andrew Wiley, and is embraced by several nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends who were touched by his kindness.
Joe’s journey was also shaped by the loving memories of those who preceded him: his parents, Ernest Marcus and Lois Wiley; his brothers Nace and Gene Wiley; and his sisters Rhonda Hylton, Trixie Long, and Edna Burwell. Their memory remains a cherished part of his story and the family’s collective heart.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joe’s life at the Morgan Funeral Home, located at 252 Montvue Dr, Lewisburg, WV 24901. Visitation will be held on April 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on April 14, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger "Wahoo" McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow the service in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, WV. It is a time to reflect on Joe’s life, to share stories, and to honor a man who lived with a smile and made the world brighter for those around him.
Joe’s passing leaves a void filled only by the treasured memories of a man who was, above all, deeply loved, endlessly cheerful, and whose spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His life’s story is one of simple joys, heartfelt connections, and an unwavering commitment to the people and passions he held dear. He will be missed profoundly but remembered with great affection and love.
