John D. Elswick

John D. Elswick, 73, of Lewisburg passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea. Born January 3, 1940 in Harland, Kentucky John was the son of the late Mary Hester Swain Elswick Jones and Delbert Elswick. John graduated from Gauley Bridge High School and attended West Virginia University. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and retired from the WV Department of Highways after forty years of service. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by infant twin sisters and his sister, Deloris Elswick. He is survived by daughter, Pamela Elswick Lewis and son, Bruce Elswick both of Lewisburg; two granddaughters, Amanda Lewis and Megan Lewis; ex-wife, Betty Elswick Hawkins of Fairlea; son-in-law, Steven Lewis of Hillsboro; sisters, Nan Elswick Boyd (Richard) of Ravenswood, Nyla "June" Elswick Owens (Gary) of Millwood, Mary "Pnut" Elswick Duffield of Lizemores; and a brother, Alvin "Ace" Elswick (Nancy) of Belva; and remembered friends, Bobby Boggs of Michigan and the Winebrenner Family. Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Saturday Aug. 31 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
