John L. Knotts Sr.

John Lynn "Rock" Knotts, Sr., 85, of Lindside, WV passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Brier Rehabilitation Center in Ronceverte. He was born in Arkansason August 28, 1928 and was the son of the late Hubert Knotts and Ruby Runions Knotts Swanigan and his step-father Roscoe Swanigan. Mr. Knotts was a Baptist Pastor, trained horses and was a coal miner early in life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Joan Bennett Knotts on February 6, 2013; a daughter, Sharon Knotts Chattin; grandson, Travis Loudermilk; and brother, Larry Swanigan. Survivors include his children, Sandra Knotts of Roanoke, VA, John Knotts Jr.(Wanda) of Frankford, Steve Knotts (caregiver, Sandra Swartz) of Rainelle and Frank Knotts (Susan) of Parkersburg; brothers, Gary Swanigan of Manassas, VA, Jerry Swanigan of Berkley Springs and Danny Swanigan of Warrenton, VA; sisters, Sandra McKenny of Beckley, Hazel Hensley of Chambersburg, PA, Judy Butler of Quartzite AZ, and Rita Bennett of Johnson City, TN; son-in-law, Mark Chattin of Lewisburg; seven grandchildren, Michele, J.L., Ryan, John Paul, Brian, Melissa and Amy; nine great grandchildren; special friends, Bridget Morrison and Logan and Andy Evans. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Enon Baptist Church in Vago with Pastor Dana Stalnaker and Pastor Steve Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday, March 3, 2014 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Jr. Merrell, Bob Thompson, Charles Rollyson, Mark Chattin, J.L.
