John R. Mcdaniel

John R. "Johnny" McDaniel, 82, of Fairlea passed away Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Born November 16, 1929 at Hollywood, Johnny was the son of the late Thurmond and Aline Miller McDaniel. He was owner of the McDaniel Vault Company and attended Lewisburg United Methodist Church. John never shied away from hard work and while trying to squeeze eight days of work into seven was never too busy to drop what he was doing to help a friend. On the rare occasion for relaxation, his love for camping and fishing was only surpassed by his enjoyment from telling tales of those experiences about his fishing buddies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Shires. Johnny is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Roger "Wahoo" McDaniel and wife Debbie of Organ Cave, Johnny Adwell of Richmond, VA, Greg McDaniel and wife, Cathy of Staunton, VA, Julie Whitehead and husband, Jimmy of Covington, VA, Jeff McDaniel and wife, Jane and Johnna Robin Hanger and husband, Scott all of Staunton, VA, and John Robert McDaniel and wife, Sonya of Ronceverte; sisters, Mildred "Millie" Johnson and husband Larry of North Carolina, Ann Cooper of Pickaway, Maxine Brown of New Jersey; and brother, Roy McDaniel and wife, Linda of Smithville, VA; grandchildren who will serve as Pallbearers, Jason McDaniel, Ray Ferguson, J. J. Whitehead, Jesse McDaniel, Claudia McDaniel, Jake Adwell, Conner McDaniel, Atlee Hanger, Katie Hanger, Jennifer Byers, Lisa Hansford, Stacie Boris, Bruce Adwell, Steve Adwell, and Steve Knight and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 10 at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Geiger, Rev. Joseph Kenaston and Roger McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery at Organ Cave.
