Joyce Lynn Pauley

Joyce Lynn Colwell Pauley, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the Seneca Trail Healthcare Center in Lewisburg, West Virginia. She was 79 years old.

Born on March 31, 1947, in Lewisburg, WV, Joyce was a lifelong resident of the area and a proud graduate of Lewisburg High School. Her professional life was marked by diverse and dedicated service, including notable work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., the Bendix Corporation in Lewisburg, WV, the California State Legislature in San Diego, CA, and the Public Defender’s Office in Lewisburg. Her career reflects a remarkable commitment to public service and justice.

Joyce was also a woman of many talents and passions. A brilliant artist, she poured her creativity into her artwork, enriching the lives of those around her. Gardening was another cherished interest; she found joy in nurturing plants and cultivating beauty in her garden.

She is survived by her beloved son, Perry Webster Pauley III; her sisters, M. Hazel Colwell and Mae Colwell Northup; her nephew, James Douglas Northup (and his wife Tami); and her niece, Lori Colwell Hurley (and her husband Robert). These family members carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and dedication.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Rickmon Sylvester Colwell and Lola Mullins Colwell; her husband, Perry Webster Pauley Jr.; and her brother, Carbet B. Colwell.

Her passing marks the loss of a remarkable woman whose life was defined by service, creativity, and love for her family. Joyce Lynn Pauley's memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
