Junior Preston Spence

CALDWELL, WV – Junior Preston Spence, 83 of Caldwell, WV went home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 2, 2017 at Harper Mills, Beckley, WV. Born April 15, 1934 at Hollywood, WV he was the son of the late George Henry and Ethel Leona Vandegrift Spence. Junior had retired from the Engineering Maintenance Department at The Greenbrier and was also a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a faithful member of the Lewisburg Community Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Richard Spence, brothers, Roscoe Spence and Paul Vandegrift and sisters, Virginia Alice Caldwell, Ethel Dedmon and Glenna Hoke. Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Taylor Spence, two sons, Larry Preston Spence and companion Sheena Sykes of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Jonathan Dale “Jonny” Spence and wife Linda of White Sulphur Springs, WV, daughter, Sandra Kay Ratterman and husband Michael of Kentucky, three brothers, George Edwin Spence and wife Agnes of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Henry Spence of North Carolina and James Vandegrift and wife Lanelle of Union, WV, four sisters, Helen Clark and husband Billy of Virginia, Rachel Hoke of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Shelva Wills of Peterstown, WV and B.J. White and husband Bill of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren, Christa Reed and husband Joe of KY, Joshua Spence and wife Tabitha of Maryland, Brian Spence and companion Alex Ducat of North Carolina, Levi Spence and wife Hayley of White Sulphur Springs, , six step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, Jordan, Emma, Charlotte and Hunter Spence, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Lewisburg Community Pentecostal Holiness Church, Brush Road, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Everette “Hat” Defibaugh officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
