Lawrence E. "Buck" Persinger

Lawrence Eugene "Buck" Persinger, 85, of Lewisburg, formerly of Rainelle passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born March 3, 1930 at Rainelle, he is the son of the late Henry Lawrence and Mamie Irene Houchins Persinger and was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Finch. Buck was a 1948 graduate of Rainelle High School where he lettered in football for four years and worked as an insurance adjuster prior to becoming an automobile salesman for over twenty years before retirement from Greenbrier Motors in Fairlea. He was a member of Henning Church of God in Frankford, an avid WVU Sports fan and a loving and devoted father, grandfather and "Big Paw Paw" to his great grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and so excited to hear about the great grandchildren and how they were growing and learning and about their riding lessons and playing baseball and football. He is survived by his loving wife of 64_ years, Evon Vance Persinger, children, Lawrence (Jeanie) of Rockwell, NC, Jamie Harvey (Eddie) of Lewisburg and Mark (Mary Jo) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Chris Harvey, Laura Harvey, Megan Roberts, Katie Mullins(Jay), Christin Gibson(Bill), Adam Persinger and Matthew Persinger; great grandchildren, Aiden Harvey, Micah Persinger, Harper and Silas Mullins; sister in-law, Maxine V. McKnight and brother-in-law, James R. Vance (Shirley). Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 31 in Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Clintonville with Rev. Robert O. Hefner officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Wednesday. Dec. 30 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
