Linda L. Vass

Harts Run, WV - Linda Lea Vass passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by her immediate family whom she loved dearly. Linda was born on November 21, 1942, to Iva Lena and Harry “Happy” Brown of Rainelle, WV. Linda lived a beautiful life with her husband of just over 62 years, Robert Vass. They settled in Harts Run, WV where they raised one son, Robert Dale Vass.

Linda gave her life to the Lord at just twelve years old and it was her heart’s desire to follow Jesus more closely each day. This spilled over into the way she cared for her marriage, family, friends, and church. Linda joined White Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in 1973 and was an active member until she passed. She enjoyed Sunday School, volunteering for VBS, singing in the choir, being part of the women’s group, and serving in any way needed. She loved the church and had a heart for serving silently, never wanting recognition for all the work she did.

She was a devoted grandmother to Hannah Vogelsong and Andrew Vass for their entire lives. She attended sporting events, GVT plays, birthdays, and any other event to let them know she loved and supported them. Despite all the love she poured out to so many, I believe Linda settled into her most favorite role of all over the last five years when she was a made a great-grandmother to Oliver and Winnie Kate Vogelsong. She watched them regularly and was always surprising them with special treats. She enjoyed her time with them so much and would never turn down just one more minute of swinging on the porch or one more game of hide and seek with Oliver. They held a special place in her heart and brought joy to her soul.

Her presence radiated joy and love wherever she went, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Iva & Harry Brown, her siblings Billy Brown, James Brown, Frances Gray, Gloria Bradley, and Nancy O’Dell. She is survived by her husband, Robert Vass, son Dale (Treva) Vass, sister Brenda (Butch) Collins, grand-children Hannah (Scott) Vogelsong and Andrew Vass, and great-grandchildren, Oliver, and Winnie Kate Vogelsong.

Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon, Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Lewis Brooks and Pastor Randy Gillian officiating.
