Makayla Danyale Carter, 21, of Lewisburg, WV passed away on March 31, 2020 in Avondale, AZ and as born-again believer, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Makayla was born on July 7, 1998 in Ronceverte, WV. She was the daughter of Matt and Julie Carter of Lewisburg, WV. Makayla was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, proud aunt, and loyal friend. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was a caring, loving, old soul who was always willing to lend an ear and offer words of encouragement to anyone that may need them. Makayla was a unique spirit and she lived life to the beat of her own drum.
Makayla loved spending time with her niece Kooper, camping, spending time in nature, music, sunrises, sunsets, knitting, cross-stitching, and sleeping. One of her favorite places to be was Sherwood Lake and she had also grown to love the sunrises and sunsets of Arizona. Makayla was a born athlete- she played softball throughout her youth, soccer from the age of three up through her senior year of college, and basketball in elementary school through high school.
Makayla was a 2016 graduate of Greenbrier East High School and a 2019 graduate of Emory & Henry where she received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. At the time of her death Makayla was in training to be an Investigator for the Arizona Department of Child Safety. She attended Bethesda Church of White Sulphur Springs, WV and more recently she attended Generation Church of Mesa, Arizona.
Makayla is survived by her parents Matt & Julie Carter of Lewisburg, WV; sister Kelsey Carter of Ronceverte, WV, brother Brent Carter of Nashville, TN, sister Kaitlin Rohan & husband David of Avondale, AZ, sister Abbie Carter of Frankford, WV and brother Evan Carter of Lewisburg, WV; niece Kooper Carter of Avondale, AZ; maternal grandparents, Andrew & Mary Morgan of Organ Cave, WV, paternal grandparents Bob & Sadie Carter of Second Creek, WV; many uncles, great uncles, aunts, great aunts, cousins and friends, who will all miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Makayla's life will be 4:30 PM, Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Bethesda Church, White Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until time of the service, Saturday at the church. We will be following COVID-19 regulations and request that all visitors wear a mask. All are welcome to attend and help us celebrate the life of Makayla.
In lieu of flowers, friends of the family have set up an account for donations at First Citizens Bank to help the family with the expenses of this tragic loss.
