Mary C. Lester

Mary C. Lester of Renick passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a short illness. Born November 21, 1910 on Spring Creek in Greenbrier County, she passed away six days prior to her 102nd birthday. Mary was the daughter of the late Wade and Sarah Morrison Lewis and was also preceded in death by her husband, Lanty Lester Sr.; six sons Charles, Ray, Lanty Jr., Kenneth, Glen and Paul Lester; five sisters, Hilda Fitzwater, Hallie Hollandsworth, Clara Simmons, Cleo Reed and Ada McCoy and two brothers, Harold Lewis and Shelby Lewis. She was a member of Renick Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Gene Lester of Richwood; three daughters, Ruth Nicholson of Ronceverte, Ruby Griffey of Renick and Mary Lou Howell and Kenny of Renick; 31 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren and 40 great great grandchildren; and five sisters, Jane Hall, Lionel Brannon, Bessie Copenheaver, Hazel Shafer and Mazie Lewis. Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Rev. Steve Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
