LEWISBURG, WV – Merle Jean Jenkins Burns, 83, of Lewisburg, WV passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Greenbrier Health Care Center following a long illness. Born March 8, 1934 in Pickaway, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Nannie Dunbar Jenkins. “Granny” as most knew her was a spirited woman. She loved to joke and laugh. Many that encountered her were able to enjoy her company. Merle never knew a stranger and loved meeting new people. She had a big heart and spread her love to many others. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Burns, son, James Ray Burns and granddaughter, Tiffany Breann Loudermilk. Those left to honor her memory are, son, John (Leslie) Burns of Lewisburg, WV, daughter, Betty (Cannonball) Loudermilk of Frankford, WV, grandchildren, Kendra (Matt) Burns of White Sulphur Springs, WV, John Allen Burns of Alderson, Brandon Loudermilk of Frankford and Annie Geiling of Big Bear, CA, sister, Jettie Hylton of Ronceverte, WV, brother, George “Mace” (Pat) Jenkins of Pickaway, WV, sister, Thelma Lephew of Pickaway, WV, special great niece, Lisa Brooks of Lewisburg, WV and an adopted great grandson, Jaxx Ryker Wilson, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel – 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV with Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Allen Burns, Matthew Peltier, Ethan Brooks, Austin Midkiff, Don Hylton, Jason Hylton, Tommy Yates and Junior Loudermilk.
