Merley Burks

Merley Burks, 74, of Auto passed away Wednesday, Oct.17, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Patty Preston at Second Creek. Born June 30, 1938 at Renick, Merley was the daughter of the late Joe and Biddie McMillion Blankenship. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ada Hammons, Shirley Eagle, and Midge Simmons; and three brothers, Howard, Gilbert, and Guy Blankenship. Merley is survived by her husband, Hursle Burks, sons, Robert Burks and Rebecca of California, Michael Burks and Missy of Auto, Roger Burks and Sherry of Arrowville, PA, and Randy Burks and Joyce of Auto; a daughter, Patty Preston and Jeff of Second Creek; seven grandchildren, Luke, Kendra, Shawn, Jarrod, Jamie, Jim Bob, and Josh; four great grandchildren; and four sisters, Edith Hammons, Pearl McCoy, Judy Simmons, and Nellie Kellison. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday Oct. 21 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Emory Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery at Auto.
