Paul Thomas O'Neil Jr.

Paul Thomas O'Neil Jr., affectionately known by his nicknames "Charlie" and "Butch," passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on June 5, 2026, at his home in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, with his beloved wife Cindy by his side. Born on May 24, 1944, in Durham, North Carolina, Paul lived a life marked by dedication, honor, and love.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Paul served over twenty years in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief. His military career was a defining chapter in his life, one that he held with great pride and which shaped his character profoundly. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he continued to serve his community diligently as a Water Treatment Operator for the City of Norfolk, from which he also retired.

Paul was known to all who knew him as the most honest man one could ever meet—his integrity was unwavering, and his friendships were cherished deeply. He was a man of many interests, enjoying riding motorcycles and boating, activities that brought him joy and freedom throughout his life.

His greatest pride came from his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy O'Neil; his daughters Nora Evans and her husband James of Middleburg, Florida, and Jenny O'Neil of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; and his cherished grandchildren Shea (and her husband Chase), Jordan, Carson, and Brian (with his wife Cheyanne). Paul was also a proud great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren, adding immense happiness to his later years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul O'Neil Sr. and Pauline Gupton O'Neil, and his sister, Rita M. O'Neil, whose memories he held close throughout his life.

A memorial gathering to honor Paul's life and legacy will be held on June 13, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, located at 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Paul's steadfast loyalty, heartfelt honesty, and loving spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He will be remembered with deep respect and affection by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to cross his path. His life stands as a testament to the values of service, family, and dignity.
