Phyllis Meigs Shelnutt

LEWISBURG, WV – Phyllis Meigs Shelnutt, 75, of Lewisburg, WV formerly of Clayton County, GA passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at her home. Born September 18, 1942 in Wadley, AL she was the daughter of the late Robert Wilson and Inetie Bishop Meigs. Phyllis retired from the Clayton County Sheriffs Department in Clayton, GA as a Civil Clerk. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Shelnutt in 1987, brothers, Henry, Virgil, Troy, Howard and Wayne Meigs and sisters, Vera Meigs Blythe, Eunice Meigs Drake, Clara Meigs Flatt and Myrtice Meigs. Survivors include her two daughters, Tawana (Allen) Tumlin of Culloden, GA and Tonya (David) Cook of Renick, WV, grandchildren, Cherlan and Desmond Owens of Warner Robins, GA, Brittany Tumlin of Lula, GA, Kelsey, Taylor and Saige Cook all of Renick, WV, great grandchildren, Brayden and Elijah Tumlin, Tucker and Preston Amoson and DJ and Gracie Owens, sister in law, Nancy Meigs of Valley, AL, many nieces, nephews and friends. It was Mrs. Shelnutt’s wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on a later date. Online guestbook can be signed, or condolences may be sent to the family at www.morganfh.net.
