Rev. Charles C. Jack

Rev. Charles C. Jack, 86, of Alderson passed away April 9, 2012 at the Brier Nursing and Rehab in Ronceverte. Charles was born on June 17, 1925 to Meldon and Grace Christian Jack in Richwood. At six months old, Charles lost his mother, Grace to TB and was raised by his maternal grandmother, Mary Christian Butler. Charles graduated from Richwood High School in the spring of 1943. He left Richwood for Akron, Ohio where he worked at the Firestone factory. In the spring of 1943 he married Margaret E. Young and they made their home in Akron until 1946 when Charles and Margaret moved to Phillipi for Charles to attend Alderson Broaddus College. He graduated in 1949 and the family moved to Kansas where Charles attended the Central Baptist Seminary, graduating in 1953. He received his Masters of Divinity and an Honorary Doctorate from Central Baptist. He pastored at Reading, Kansas; Oxford, Kansas and Peterstown, Indian Mills, Weston Baptist Church and Alderson Old Greenbrier Baptist Churches in West Virginia. He served as interim pastor of Broad Run Baptist, Sinks Grove Baptist, and First Baptist of Richwood. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Meldon and Grace Jack; and sons Charles and Wallace Jack. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Margaret E. Young Jack of Alderson; son, Malcolm Jack and companion, Patty Stewart of Hilldale; daughter, Merriam Grace Jack Cole and husband, "JJ" John Cole Jr.; three grandchildren, John Cole III and wife, LeAnn of Lewisburg, Letisha Cole of Morgantown; and Amanda Cole DePriest and husband, Charley of Williamsburg; four great grandchildren, Aiden Cole and Kinsley Cole of Lewisburg, and Charles DePriest III and John Robert DePriest of Williamsburg; a half sister, Annabelle Jack Waters and husband, Marvin of New Bern, NC; nephew, Marvin Waters Jr. and a niece, Crystal Waters. Graveside services and burial will be 3:00 PM Wednesday April 11 at the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church Cemetery in Alderson with Pastor Bill Bryan officiating.Service:3:00 PM WednesdayApril 11, 2012Graveside Old Greenbrier Baptist Church CemeteryAlderson, WV
