Rev. Sterling D. Morgan, 80, of Lewisburg passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his home. Born April 8, 1934 in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Homer K. and Elizabeth Jackson Boone Morgan. Rev. Morgan was a member of the Conference of the United Methodist Church and served the churches of the Blue Sulphur Charge, Bascom-Quinwood Charge, Sophia-Mabscott Charge, Williamsburg Charge and Perry Memorial Church in Shady Spring. Prior to entering the ministry, Sterling served his country in the US Army, was a Prudential Insurance Agent, worked for E. M. Meadows Funeral Home, Kroger, and John Doyle Grocery. He also served on the Summers County Board of Education. Sterling loved gospel music and began group singing while still in high school. Throughout his life and ministry, he sang Bass with several Quartets and Choirs. In addition to his parents, Sterling was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Ed, Wallace, and Wellar Morgan; Ed, Alfred, and Ralph Boone, and sisters Thelma Howard, Charlotte Reed, Annabel Johnson, Iva Hall, and Alice Boone. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sue Graham Morgan; children, Neil Morgan (Sandra) Debbie Redden (Randy) Timothy Morgan (Shawn) Barbara Morgan, Kellen Leef (Mike) and Shannon Morgan (Leandra); grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Anthony, Luke, Rachel, Melissa, Jenny, Mary Beth, Daniel, Shaun, Shanna, and Curtis; 22 great grand children and 1 great great grandchild, brothers, Roy Boone and Victor Morgan (Martha) both of Hinton; Sister, Barbara Morgan Scott(Bob) of Millsboro, Delaware; and Sister in Law, Theresa Boone of Georgetown, Delaware. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM, Saturday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg and on Sunday from 12:30 to 3: PM at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton. Services will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor in Hinton with Rev. Jack Stevens, Rev. Roy Gwinn and Rev. B.J. Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery at Hilldale, WV.
