Rick McIntire, 66, of White Sulphur Springs, WV passed away Tuesday, January 2 ND , 2018 following a sudden illness while on vacation in Clearwater, FL. Rick was born on July 29 TH , 1951 in Richwood, WV to the late George and Flossie McIntire as the youngest of three sons. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, oldest brother George “Sonny” McIntire, nieces Michelle “Shelly” McIntire and Darlene McIntire Steele, and step-daughter Brittany Hanna.
Rick was a very active member in his community and spent many years coaching and officiating baseball, softball, and soccer. He was a member of the Eastern Greenbrier Jaycees, Men of Greenbrier Barber Shop Quartet, and volunteered for food drives and other activities with his church, Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Rick worked at Bill Lewis Motors, Inc. and Allegheny Motors as a salesman and sales manager for over 40 years. He served as an Officer in the West Virginia Army National Guard with Howitzer Battery 1/150 TH Armored Reconnaissance Squadron and Charlie Battery 1-201 ST Field Artillery before retiring in 1994 with over 21 years of service.
Rick was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He would enjoy going on golf outings with his military buddies, family, friends, or anyone that needed a partner on the course. He loved going hunting and just spending time at his camp in Pocahontas County and really enjoyed trout fishing in the Williams River.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cathy McIntire of White Sulphur Springs. Daughter, Angela Wilson, her husband Jeremy, and their children Ethan and Emma of Graham, NC. Son Justin McIntire, his wife Christina, and their children Claire and Rosaleigh of Charleston. Daughter, Melanie McIntire of Ronceverte. Step-son, Bryan Hanna and his children Olivia Lineberry, Sophia and Emery Hanna of White Sulphur Springs. Brother, Robert “Bob” McIntire and his wife Hilda of Durand, MI. Nephew, Michael “Mack” McIntire and his wife Alicia. Niece, Sandy McIntire Peters and her husband Robert. Niece, Debbie Tullar and her husband Frank. And many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rick was a loving husband, father, and friend who never met a stranger. He had an unmistakable laugh and loved being surrounded by good friends and family. Rick will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visitation will start at 1:00pm, followed by a celebration of life around 3:30pm. Services will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church located at 136 Tressel St., White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986 on Saturday, January 27 TH, 2018.
