Robert L. Saunders

Robert L. Saunders, 80, of Lewisburg passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte after a short illness. Born May 5, 1932 at Covington, VA, he was the son of the late Daisy Saunders. Bob graduated from Alderson High School in 1950 and served in Korea in the US Army. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Alderson. He was an active member of Lewisburg Baptist Church where he and Janet had the Jolly Seniors for over 18 years. He was also a member of the Senior Circle at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, where he served as President of the Board. He is survived by his wife, Janet Saunders and step-son, Bobby Cohernour. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Lewisburg Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery at Lewisburg. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:30 PM Thursday, Jan. 3 at Lewisburg Baptist Church.
