Shirley Elmore

RONCEVERTE, WV – Shirley Lenora Hess Elmore, 86 of Ronceverte, WV passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Lewisburg Healthcare Center. Born December 6, 1936, in the Richlands, she was the daughter of the late Ballard Preston and Lula Susan Hanson Hess. Shirley was a member of Ronceverte Baptist Church where she held various positions through the years. She and her late husband, Charles Benton Elmore, owned and operated Elmore’s Farm Supply for twenty years. Shirley was selfless, caring, thoughtful, humorous, loving, kindhearted, devoted, gentle and generous.  She was a prayer warrior and lover of southern gospel music. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Ray Hess and sisters, Mary Cothran, Lib Howard, Virginia Hess.

Survivors include a son, Doug Elmore (Karen) of Ronceverte, WV, daughter, Susie Anderson of Ronceverte, WV, grandchildren, Ben and Hannah, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, WV.
