Sidney David Brannon

SUTHERLAND, VA – Sidney David Brannon, 88 of Sutherland, VA, previously from Manassas, VA, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Born August 4, 1932 in Renick, WV he was the youngest son of the late Harley E. Brannon Sr. and Lula Bell Sams Brannon. Sidney was retired from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Agency as a Subway Station Manager. He was a member of the Local 638 Teamsters Union. Sidney was an avid bowler, bowling many years on a semi-pro traveling team and with his wife on a couples “Duck Pin” league for over forty years. Following retirement, he enjoyed walking and socializing with the “Mall Walkers” at the Manassas Mall. He was extremely social and never met a stranger. Sidney was a longtime Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed watching all sports. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in law, Barry Lynch, brothers, Earl, Odie and Harley Brannon Jr. and sisters, Edith Cooke, and Virginia Wright. Survivors include his loving wife of over sixty-one years, Bessie Mae Mayhew Brannon, daughter, Lisa Lynch of Sutherland, VA, grandchildren, Heather Wilson (Paul), Kristen Ayscue and Lauren Beasley, one great grandson who was the apple of his eye, Greyson Beasley, several nieces, and nephews. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery, Renick, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. We will be following COVID-19 regulations and request guests wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
